Cheating on Your Diet?

So this weekend, I cheated on my weight loss plan a bit and when I thought about it,  I planned to cheat just a little, so maybe it is ok to cheat on your diet.. no not every day, but I know changing your old eating habits for new ones will take some time and there will be some times you want those old standby goodies.

If there is some goody that you are craving and can't get it out of your mind.. you are better off to plan to cheat that one time, than go way off track trying to find a substitute. The interesting thing is that over time, if you are cutting back on salt and sugar and fat, you will notice that those old favourites may not taste the same.. you may really notice the fatty things taste greasy, salty things are too salty or sugary things are way too sweet.

Make sure you think about all the progress you have made so far though and then really decide if cheating is going to be worth it. If you cheat, plan to get RIGHT BACK ON TRACK once you have had those few potato chips or that piece of cake or those couple drinks when you go out with friends.

Cheating is NOT a reward.. it works against what you are trying to achieve.. so make a great reward for NOT cheating.. like a massage, a mini weekend away, dinner at a nice restaurant (making good choices of course!) .. whatever it is you like to do.. make the reward 4 weeks down the road so you have a goal to work towards too.
